Power Systems Technologist

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and working closely with internal and external associates, the Power Systems Technologist will work closely with our production and design groups to assist with the test, development, and support of Lindsay’s powering platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for an exceptional technical person to gain broader system level exposure working on leading products for the telecommunications industry.

This is a permanent position located in our Peterborough, ON manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

The following duties outline, but do not limit, the regular position requirements. These may be revised from time to time as business conditions dictate, at the discretion of the Manager.

  • Develop and test AC and DC power equipment and systems in lab and production environments
  • Collect data and form reports to evaluate key performance indicators for internal and external resources
  • Set up test benches for quality control and assurance for mature products
  • Create and maintain all related documentation including material lists, operating manuals, troubleshooting reference guides, upgrade procedures, deployment strategies
  • Work closely with Product Line Manager and Sales team to integrate powering solutions into projects
  • Work closely with partners and production team to customize, modify and optimize power solutions
  • Demonstrate technical problem resolution, situation analysis, testing strategies and fault reproduction
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, partners and customers to ensure seamless introduction of new technology, platforms and services into production
  • Provide feedback to Engineering regarding identified design and performance problems
  • Support the development and testing of new LiFePO4 battery systems

Qualifications:

The following criteria are the minimum qualifications required for this position:

  • Minimum two-year technical diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation or Control Systems, or Journeyman Electrician certificate
  • Working knowledge of the operation of standard lab test equipment to collect results on voltage, current, frequency, efficiency, power consumption, power factor, regulation, temperature performance, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience soldering and working with board-level components an asset
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, high energy, flexible and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Travel – this position requires a legal ability to travel internationally as needed (< 25%)
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
